An Introduction to Human Communication as Narration

Reading "Human Communication as Narration: Toward a Philosophy of Reason, Value and Action" by Walter R. Fisher.

According to Fisher, narrative paradigm is "the foundation on which a complete rhetoric needs to be built." It deals with the "interpretation and assessment of rhetorical messages."  It also celebrates the storytelling nature of humans.

A story that "invites as audience to believe it or act on it."  When communication is seriously considered in fostering attitudes and actions, the narrative paradigm becomes relevant, according to Fisher. Test of Reasoning + Test of Values = the Logic of Good Reasons. Therefore, some stories are more truthful than others.
