Instead of just sending out a beam of light, the Beacon Island Lighthouse itself became a light show canvas during the Clear Lake Boat Lane Parade Dec. 8., and the production will continue to be shown from about 6 p.m. to midnight through Jan. 6, 2008.
The Verandah Cos., developer of a new 35-acre gated island community adjacent to the South Shore Harbour Marina, enlisted Daryl Vaughan and his Light Partners to create a temporary state-of-the-art computer controlled solid state high intensity light emitting diode (LED) system that produces multicolored lights. The system will be enhanced as the resort community progresses, he says.

The British lighting designer, who has worked with music from Genesis, Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, Sting and the Rolling Stones, specializes in the application of theatrical style lighting in commercial, residential and retail environments.

During past holiday seasons, the lighthouse was decorated with strands of white lights shaped like a Christmas tree.
