GHP on Key Issues

The Greater Houston Partnership has formally registered a position on fourteen bills by submission of a formal registration card, submitting written testimony or verbal testimony during a hearing. A complete list of the Partnership’s priority legislation and the actions taken is available here.

In addition, the Partnership’s Board of Directors adopted six resolutions at the April 1st meeting. The resolutions adopted positions on tax, economic development, quality of life, and health care legislation. The Board also approved a letter to Senator Ogden asking that the discussion on using state funds for stem cell research be open for public testimony. The resolutions addressed on April 1 are listed as follows:

• Resolution of the Board of Directors in Opposition to the Elimination or Imposition of Undue Burdens on Tax Code Chapter 313, the Texas Economic Development Act
• Resolution of the Board of Directors in Support of Amending the Procedure for Determining a School District’s Property Value
• Resolution of the Board of Directors in Support of the Ad Valorem Tax Exemption of Property Used by Certain Nonprofit Community Business Organizations
• Resolution of the Board of Directors in Support of Statewide Building Energy Efficiency Performance Standards
• Resolution of the Board of Directors in Support of Storm Cost Securitization
• Resolution of the Board of Directors in Support of Trauma Care Funding
